Alex Nolan, a well-known social media personality with over 100,000 followers across TikTok and Instagram, has pleaded guilty to a series of offences involving counterfeit currency.

Known online for his comedy sketches and lifestyle content, Mr Nolan, who is from Greystones, now faces serious legal consequences following multiple incidents at the same Co. Wicklow supermarket.

Mr Nolan appeared before Bray District Court on Monday, October 6 and admitted to several charges under the Theft and Fraud Offences Act.

The court heard that on February 12, 2024, Mr Nolan entered a SuperValu store in Greystones, Co Wicklow, and purchased a drink valued at €2.30. He paid with a counterfeit €50 note and received €47.70 in legitimate change.

The next day, on February 13, Mr Nolan returned to the same store, made another small purchase, and again used a fraudulent €50 bill, receiving over €45 in genuine currency.

On February 21, 2024, Mr Nolan attempted to pass a third counterfeit note at the same location. This time, a staff member grew suspicious of the note's authenticity and notified store management. Mr Nolan was subsequently identified through CCTV footage from the earlier incidents.

Michael O’Connor, solicitor for the defendant, told the court that his client has no prior convictions. He described Mr Nolan as a “young man” who is prepared to explain the background circumstances that led to the offences.

Judge David Kennedy adjourned the matter to allow for the preparation of a probation report. Mr Nolan is scheduled to reappear before Bray District Court on January 19, 2026.
