Three brothers secure HSE autism assessment orders

By Gráinne Nolan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Three brothers secured High Court orders requiring the HSE to complete assessments of their health and educational needs on 7 February 2019. The case concerned applications submitted in late March 2018 for children displaying symptoms consistent with autism spectrum disorder.

The assessments were to be completed within eight weeks under the agreed orders. Their separate claims for damages and aggravated damages remained active and were adjourned for three weeks.

The proceedings were brought after the children’s mother alleged that the assessments had not begun and that delays could affect access to appropriate support.
