Thomasina Egan brought an unfair dismissal complaint against Red Zinc Ltd to the Workplace Relations Commission, which was still resolving a preliminary dispute over whether she was dismissed or resigned, in a report published on 23 January 2025.

The dispute concerns a phone call on 29 November 2023 after Egan copied the company auditor on an email about late wages. Egan said Donal Morris told her she was fired; Morris said he could not recall the call and did not believe he had told her that.

The WRC adjudicator sought correspondence and phone records from the parties and said he would write with a decision on which side should present its case first.
