Thandekile Sulo was awarded €22,500 by the Workplace Relations Commission for disability discrimination, reported on 16 October 2024.

The WRC found Abbot Close Nursing Home Ltd constructively dismissed her after learning she was HIV positive and failed to provide reasonable accommodation.

The WRC said the nursing home sought a further medical report at her expense despite receiving a hospital report that she could work without concern for herself or others.

It ordered €10,000 for discriminatory dismissal and €12,500 for failure to provide reasonable accommodation and access to employment.
