A teenage girl was granted permission for a High Court judicial review over a Junior Certificate exam reader, reported on 23 April 2018. She had sought an individual reader because of conditions including dyspraxia, speech and language difficulties, and auditory processing disorder.
The State Examination Commission had refused her application under the RACE scheme after test results it said were too high, including fewer than 7% reading errors in one assessment. Her lawyers challenged that decision, and Mr Justice Seamus Noonan made the case returnable for the following week.
