By Ruairí Dolan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The High Court adjourned the Syrian families’ action over their proposed transfer from Greece to Turkey to January on 7 December 2016. The families are challenging the EU-Turkey migration agreement and Ireland’s role in it, alleging breaches of human rights and EU law.

Mr Justice Paul Gilligan adjourned a preliminary issue on whether the Irish High Court has jurisdiction to hear the case. One family’s father and daughter are to be transferred to Germany, while the other family was permitted to remain in Greece until March, according to evidence heard by the court.

This report covers an earlier stage of the case. Later developments are not reported here.
