Suspected fuel launderer named as robbery suspect at court

By Saoirse Doyle

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

A suspected fuel launderer named in Aaron Brady’s alibi notice was also a suspect in the Lordship Credit Union robbery, the Central Criminal Court heard. The proceedings were reported on 7 July 2020.

Detective Inspector Martin Beggy said the man had not been questioned in relation to Brady’s alibi because he was also a suspect for the robbery. He said the man had been approached in 2013 and asked about his movements on the night of the robbery, but did not then mention any interaction with Brady.

Brady pleaded not guilty to the capital murder of Det Garda Adrian Donohoe and to robbing approximately €7,000 in cash and assorted cheques. The charges related to events at Lordship Credit Union, Bellurgan, Co Louth, on 25 January 2013.

The trial was continuing before Mr Justice Michael White and a jury.
