Supreme Court rejects Aaron Brady’s bid to appeal murder conviction

By Saoirse Doyle

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The Supreme Court has rejected Aaron Brady’s application for permission to appeal his conviction for the capital murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe, exhausting his final legal avenue to challenge the conviction. The court said the grounds raised no novel issue of law or matter of general public importance.

Brady was convicted in 2020 of the murder during a robbery at Lordship Credit Union in Co Louth in 2013. He is serving a life sentence with a minimum term of 40 years. The Court of Appeal had dismissed his appeal on all grounds in July 2024.
