Stolen Wicklow Audi recovered in Dublin as second car remains missing after home raid
The Wicklow PeopleA car stolen during an overnight raid on a Wicklow home has been recovered in Dublin, while a second vehicle taken in the same incident remains missing.
Four masked men, allegedly armed with bats, are believed to have broken into a property in Ashford a fortnight ago and stolen the keys to an Audi A3 and a Volkswagen Golf.
The Audi was later recovered in Crumlin, Co Dublin, but the owners say they were contacted by gardaí in Dublin more than a week after the vehicle had been found.
The owners told independent.ie that their insurance company has since paid out for the Audi.
However, the Volkswagen Golf remains missing, with the owners continuing to receive fines for e-tolls and speeding offences as the vehicle is still being driven with its registration plates.
“I’ve no idea how this is still going,” the owner said.
The ordeal has also left the owner without a vehicle and on stress leave from work.
It is understood the Golf was allegedly used by the same men in the theft of a dirt bike from a home in Baltinglass two weeks ago.
The bike was taken from the home of a Defence Forces soldier while he was asleep.
During the alleged robbery, the men entered the house before removing the bike and making their escape.
Garda sources believe the two incidents are related, but have yet to disclose who they believe may be responsible.
