This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Stephen Murray was ordered to pay €328,000 in damages for raping his foster daughter by the High Court, in a ruling reported on 24 July 2025.

Murray was jailed for 11 years in May 2022 after pleading guilty to 14 rape charges, two oral rape charges and one sexual assault charge, for offences committed between February 2009 and December 2015.

In 2023, Kelly Kemmy settled a separate damages claim against the Child and Family Agency, Tusla, for €250,000; that sum was taken into account in the award against Murray.

The High Court judge assessed damages at €578,000 and reduced that figure by €250,000 to account for the Tusla settlement, finding the agency and Murray were concurrent wrongdoers.
