Stephen McKeever was sentenced to four years, with the final year suspended, for assault causing harm at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 12 March 2025. The assault happened in the SuperValu Walkinstown carpark on 22 November 2023.

McKeever pleaded guilty to one count of assault causing harm; a charge of threatening to kill or cause serious harm was taken into consideration. CCTV showed him kicking and punching his neighbour, who suffered a broken nose, a fractured eye socket and nerve damage.

Judge Patricia Ryan treated the protracted attack, the victim’s head injury and lasting nerve damage as aggravating factors. She considered McKeever’s early guilty plea, previous good record and expression of remorse in mitigation.

The judge ordered one year of Probation Service supervision after release and directed McKeever to keep away from the injured party for three years.
