Sofija Krascuka was awarded €5,500 in unpaid wages and a statutory redundancy lump sum by the Workplace Relations Commission, in a decision reported on 26 April 2024. The redundancy award was subject to her having been in insurable employment under the Social Welfare Acts during the relevant period.

The WRC found that Avia Capital Leasing Limited had made her redundant but was unable to pay the lump sum. It also ordered the company to pay €687.50 for failing to provide written employment terms.

Krascuka’s employment ended on 26 April 2022. The company said sanctions and measures affecting its bank accounts had left it without funds or a way to pay at that stage.
