Six animal welfare charities settled their challenge to XL Bully seizure and euthanasia regulations at the High Court on 27 February 2025, when counsel told the court the case could be struck out after the State agreed to amend the regulations.
The charities sought protection for dogs in their care from seizure or euthanasia under the regulations. The High Court had previously granted an injunction against those actions pending determination of the judicial review, while refusing a separate injunction against the rehoming ban.
The settlement was reported on 27 February 2025. The court adjourned the matter for mention on 29 April; the report says final orders could be made four weeks after the amended regulations were promulgated.
