The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed Siarhei Klimasheuski’s unfair dismissal complaint against Tattonward Ltd on 25 June 2022, according to Northern Sound.
The WRC found that Klimasheuski’s failure to wear PPE or enforce social distancing at a Monaghan direct provision centre during the first weeks of the Covid-19 pandemic was gross misconduct akin to a workplace assault.
Klimasheuski said he was not provided with PPE before 10 April and had to buy his own mask. He said the protocols should have been explained to him in Russian, as English was not his first language, and that this did not happen until after the alleged health and safety breaches.
