Shadeem Khan’s complaint over an unlawful wage deduction was upheld by the Workplace Relations Commission following a hearing on 9 December 2022.

The WRC found that €1,645 had been withheld from Mr Khan’s wages and ordered VS Painting and Decorating Solutions to pay him that amount, subject to tax and statutory deductions.

Mr Khan gave sworn evidence that he had not been paid for work during the Christmas and New Year period; the adjudication officer said the employer did not attend the hearing.
