Sean Connolly was jailed for life for murdering Eamon Kelly at the Special Criminal Court; the proceedings were reported on 1 May 2015.

Connolly pleaded guilty to the murder. The court heard Kelly was shot four times in the back as he returned home from a betting shop in Killester on 4 December 2012.

Mr Justice Paul Butler, presiding over the three-judge non-jury court, said the murder was a most heinous crime and that sentencing was mandatory.
