This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Sean Brady was jailed for three months for burgling Kinsealy Pet Store, with the sentence imposed at Swords District Court. He had pleaded guilty to the burglary, which occurred on 24 October 2013.

The report said Brady’s blood was found at the scene. Aidan O'Connor saw a male fleeing the aviary area towards a red BMW, and struck the vehicle with a hatchet before moving out of its way.

Garda Killian Layden agreed with defence counsel Patrick Jackson that Brady met gardaí by appointment and pleaded guilty. The defence said Brady had ten previous convictions, a drug habit and tried to make money through illegal means.

Judge Denis McLoughlin ordered the three-month term to run consecutively to a sentence Brady was already serving. That sentence included one year reactivated from a three-year suspended sentence for unlawful possession of drugs for sale or supply. Recognisance was fixed in the event of an appeal.
