Subcontractors protested over about €14m they said was unpaid after the collapse of Carillion and Sammon, reported on 17 July 2018. The protests took place outside schools in Wexford, Bray and Kells, where firms said they would prevent the buildings opening until payment was made. The Department of Education said the subcontractors’ contracts were with Sammon and that Sammon was in liquidation. A replacement contractor had been appointed to help complete the schools.

This report covers an earlier stage of the case. Later developments are not reported here.
