Sandra Maher’s overtime pay claim heard by WRC

By Fionn Kelly

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Sandra Maher’s pay claim under the Payment of Wages Act was heard by the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) on 13 April 2022.

Maher, a manager at a Paddy Power shop in Harmonstown, Dublin 5, said she had lost about eight overtime hours a week for six or seven months after shops reopened in June 2020. Her union representative argued the overtime formed part of her continuing contract, while Flutter’s representative said overtime was voluntary and that there was no business requirement to offer it.

The adjudicating officer closed the hearing after asking Maher to provide additional documentation.
