This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Samir Mansour was sentenced to seven years in prison, with one year suspended, for raping a woman. The proceedings were reported on 14 July 2014.

Mr Justice Barry White imposed the sentence. The report said the judge noted the violent nature of the attack and its lasting effect on the victim.

The report said Mansour was tried in 2012 and convicted of four charges, including false imprisonment. Those guilty verdicts were subsequently found to be unsafe on appeal.

A jury in 2013 failed to agree on a rape charge, according to the report. It said Mansour was found guilty after a second retrial.

The woman met Mansour in a club before accepting an invitation to a party at his home. She told him she was a lesbian, and he told her he was gay. The report said she did not believe him but thought he seemed nice. According to the woman’s account, Mansour later said his friends would no longer be coming and became terrifying as she tried to leave.

This report covers an earlier stage of the case. Later developments are not reported here.
