By Saoirse Doyle

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Rosarii Molloy Curran settled her lung-cancer negligence claim for €60,000 in the High Court on 10 March 2016. She sued Dr Colm Quigley and the HSE over alleged failures in her late husband John Curran’s care at Ely Hospital, Wexford.

Liability was admitted, and an apology was given to the Curran family on Dr Quigley’s behalf. The case concerned alleged failures to investigate or follow up symptoms before Mr Curran was diagnosed with lung cancer in March 2011.

Mr Curran died at home in County Wexford on 16 April 2011. The family welcomed the settlement and hoped it would lead to fail-safe protocols for patients awaiting vital tests.
