Richard Moloney was jailed for 12 years for rape, oral rape and sexual assault at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin, reported on 13 November 2019. The offences occurred at a Tipperary home on 16 July 2016, involving his 16-year-old foster daughter.

Moloney was convicted by a jury after a trial, and no part of the sentence was suspended. The court also imposed four years of post-release supervision and ordered him to stay away from the victim and attend an alcohol addiction programme.

The judge said Moloney had abused the trust placed in him as a foster father and continued to deny the offences.
