The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Rachel Few’s landlord to pay her €250 compensation after finding him liable for discrimination linked to HAP in a decision dated 30 November 2023. The WRC also ordered a €250 donation to Threshold. The hearing took place on 16 August 2023.
The finding concerned the landlord’s maintenance person, identified in the decision only as Mr G. The adjudicator found that his initial conduct towards Few and her housemates was discriminatory, while finding that delays in processing the HAP application did not themselves amount to discrimination.
Few had sought help completing HAP forms in January 2023. The decision records that the application was eventually approved from 1 April 2023; it describes the discrimination found as minor and limited to Mr G’s initial actions.
