Quinn family and IBRC mediation ends without agreement

By Ruairí Dolan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The Quinn family and IBRC mediation ended without agreement on 17 July 2015. The mediation concerned the family’s ongoing dispute with the former Anglo Irish Bank, now IBRC, over loans allegedly owed to the bank. The process was chaired by retired Supreme Court judge Justice Joseph Finnegan. Talks had been intended to broker a truce, but no resolution was reached.

The report said the mediation followed a Quinn proposal in the Commercial Court, after the Director of Public Prosecutions secured a further deferral of the family’s case. It also reported that the parties had come relatively close to resolving the dispute earlier in 2015, but that a proposed deal did not proceed.
