This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The High Court awarded more than €1m in damages and interest to 20 Portuguese workers who were underpaid while working on the M7 project. The award against three Portuguese companies called the RAC Eire Partnership was made by Ms Justice Carmel Stewart before Christmas.

The proceedings were reported on 27 December 2018. In her ruling, Ms Justice Stewart said the workers had been treated “appallingly”.

Cllr Seamus Morris welcomed the decision but expressed concern about the workers’ ability to obtain the money. He also described their living conditions as appalling.
