This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Peter Kennedy was jailed for 10 years for indecently assaulting 18 boys at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 9 July 2013. Kennedy, a former member of the Kiltegan Fathers order, pleaded guilty to 27 counts of indecent assault committed in five counties between 1968 and 1986.

Judge Martin Nolan imposed the sentence after hearing that the charges included sample counts representing more than one instance of abuse. The sentence was backdated to December 2011, when Kennedy first went into custody in Ireland. The report said the victims were mostly aged between 10 and 15, and that victim impact reports described depression, suicide attempts and substance abuse.

This report covers an earlier stage of the case. Later developments are not reported here.
