Liquidator Myles Kirby secured High Court freezing orders against Peter Conlon over missing charity donations. The proceedings were reported on 9 February 2018.
Barrister Rossa Fanning told the court that Kirby had contacted charities while attempting to locate an estimated €3.8 million donated to, but never received by, various charities. The High Court heard that more than 700 charitable organisations had been contacted. The funds had been contributed through a service provided by Pembroke Dynamic, of which Conlon was managing director.
Fanning said a Swiss prosecutor had confirmed that Conlon was detained at Zurich Airport shortly before Christmas. The report said his arrest followed a criminal investigation into Red Cross claims that it had not received millions donated through the Ammado platform, which was linked to Conlon. Fanning said Conlon remained in custody in Zurich and the presumption of innocence applied.
Pembroke Dynamic had been wound up the previous month after failing to satisfy a debt of approximately €400,000 owed to Revenue.
