Waitress Pauline McConalogue described seeing flames and the ceiling begin to collapse at the Stardust inquest, reported on 16 June 2023.

In statements read to the inquest, she said she had not received a fire drill while working at the club and did not know where the exits were. She said she was collecting glasses near the stage when she saw flames in a section of the club, then the lights went out as she moved away.

McConalogue said she did not know how she got outside and was not injured, although her clothing was burned and she was overcome by fumes. Her account was reported as the inquest continued.
