This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Paul O’Shea was released from Mountjoy Prison on 8 April 2015 after being jailed for contempt of court, according to a report on the High Court proceedings. He had been detained for about two weeks following a dispute with Danske Bank over land secured against a loan.

The contempt order followed attempts by receiver George Maloney to take possession of 31 hectares in Castledermot, Co Kildare, after O’Shea had undertaken not to impede the process. Danske Bank said he had breached that undertaking, while supporters said the receiver’s agents sought access through a private entrance despite an alternative route being available.

O’Shea later told Mr Justice Anthony Hunt in the High Court that he was prepared to comply with the court orders and sought to purge his contempt.
