This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Patrick Quirke denied murdering Bobby Ryan as his trial continued at the Central Criminal Court on 30 January 2019. The case concerns Ryan’s death in Tipperary, where his body was found in a run-off tank in late April 2013.

The court heard evidence about an agony-aunt letter allegedly written by Quirke, whose former lover Mary Lowry said she believed he had penned it. Lowry also gave evidence about CCTV footage and alleged assaults, which Quirke’s defence challenged during cross-examination.
