Patrick Gately's aggravated burglary sentence cut on appeal
This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.
Patrick Gately's aggravated burglary sentence was reduced to 18 years, with four years suspended, by the Court of Appeal on 5 May 2017.
The original sentence followed an aggravated burglary at the Corcoran family home in Burnchurch, Killenaule, County Tipperary, on 21 November 2013.
The court held that Gately and Dean Byrne merited the most severe sentences, but found the difference from the other appellants excessive. The appeal was allowed in part, with the court to hear submissions on the conditions attached to the suspended terms.
