Patrick and Anthony Boyle each received a two-year sentence, suspended in full, for possessing stolen property at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. Judge Martin Nolan imposed the sentences; the proceedings were reported on 25 May 2021. The men pleaded guilty to possessing three stolen aluminium coils on 24 March 2018. They were not alleged to have been involved in the theft. Patrick’s counsel accepted he should have scrutinised the material more carefully, while Anthony’s counsel said he had not benefited financially and was remorseful. The men had repaid the shopkeeper, and €2,000 was brought to court between them.
