Oliver Ennis received a fully suspended three-year sentence for theft at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The proceedings were reported on 30 July 2019.

Ennis pleaded guilty to multiple counts of theft from his employer, the Schoolhouse Hotel in Ballsbridge, Dublin, between December 2012 and October 2014. He took €10,500 in takings.

His case was first heard before Judge Martina Baxter on 30 June 2018 and adjourned to allow him to repay the money. Judge Baxter noted that the final payment had been made.

The court heard that Ennis needed money for visits to a London hospital by his youngest daughter, who has pulmonary hypertension. Judge Baxter said the thefts were not the way to seek financial assistance.

Judge Baxter suspended the three-year prison sentence in full on condition that Ennis complete 200 hours of community service within the next 12 months and keep the peace.
