Noel Noonan and Thomas McMahon IRA membership trial adjourned
This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.
Noel Noonan and Thomas McMahon had their IRA membership trial adjourned at the Special Criminal Court on 27 March 2014. The adjournment allowed defence lawyers time to consider an independent expert assessment of garda stations in Cahir and Clonmel.
The court heard evidence that neither station was connected to the Garda system for the systematic recording of telephone calls. Mr Justice Butler said the case should proceed, while allowing the defence time to consider a physical inspection before the next hearing.
This report covers an earlier stage of the case. Later developments are not reported here.
