Searches of Garda security systems found no evidence that Maurice McCabe or David Taylor were targeted by gardaí as suspects, the Disclosures Tribunal heard. The proceedings were reported on 11 May 2018.

Retired chief superintendent Peter Kirwan said there was no file or document presenting either man as a target, suspect or in a derogatory context. He also said neither was subject to surveillance, and that there was no application to intercept Sergeant McCabe’s phones. The tribunal heard that references to McCabe in some files concerned security operations in which he had participated.
