Nico Holloway’s vehicle safety complaints heard at WRC

By Niamh Kearney

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Nico Holloway’s complaints that Dublin Coach dismissed him for raising concerns about unsafe vehicles were heard at the Workplace Relations Commission on 17 July 2024.

Holloway told the WRC that, during the previous winter, a bus door opened while he was driving on the M7. He said he had reported several vehicle defects, including problems with brakes, tyres, seat belts, steering and windscreen wipers.

Citi Bus Ltd, which trades as Dublin Coach, disputed his account. Its lawyers said his probation had been unsatisfactory and that he had discussed a mass walkout with other drivers.

The WRC hearing was continuing, with the company due to present its defence after evidence from a current driver. The reports supplied do not state a final decision on Holloway’s complaints.
