This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Niall Finnegan was jailed for four-and-a-half years, with the final 18 months suspended for three years, for possessing cash linked to ATM thefts at the Special Criminal Court on 29 November 2021.

The offence involved €103,930 at The Yard, Tullypole, Moynalty, Co Meath, on 20 August 2019. Finnegan had pleaded guilty to possessing or handling the cash for the benefit of, at the direction of, or in association with a criminal organisation.

The court declined his request to delay the start of the sentence until after Christmas. Mr Justice Tony Hunt said Finnegan would be better off starting the sentence immediately and having Christmas “at the other end”, without a sentence hanging over him.
