Nathan Robinson, 30, of Dunard Avenue, Blackhorse Avenue, Dublin 7, was sentenced by Judge Martin Nolan at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to 20 months in prison, suspended in full. The proceedings were reported on 4 April 2025.

Robinson pleaded guilty to possession of stolen property, namely a Live U600 Electronic transmission device, in Fairview on 24 January 2023.

Garda Conor Flynn told prosecuting counsel Maddie Grant BL that the equipment had been stolen from an RTÉ camera operator’s car and was valued at €25,000. It was tracked to a Dublin hardware shop, where CCTV showed Robinson taking it from a rucksack; approximately €50 was exchanged. Gda Flynn agreed with defence counsel Aoife O’Leary BL that Robinson had no idea of the item’s worth when he entered the shop.

Gda Flynn said Robinson was arrested on 27 January 2023 and made some admissions in interview. He agreed that Robinson had a drug addiction, had gone on a binge and was co-operative with gardaí. The equipment had been returned to RTÉ.

O’Leary submitted family letters and a letter of apology from Robinson. She said he had not come to garda attention in the previous two years and asked for a suspended sentence. Judge Nolan noted Robinson’s history of offending and that some previous convictions were relevant.
