The human trafficking and prostitution trial of Natalia Nogueira Da Silva and Ivanilce (Lisa) Vailones Fidelis collapsed at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 8 February 2023, when the judge discharged the jury.
The judge said the case could not proceed before that jury because of unforeseen circumstances and indicated it would be heard again before a new jury later that month. The jury was told not to discuss the case before the next trial.
The State alleges that the women trafficked two Brazilian women for exploitation. Both defendants deny human trafficking charges; Da Silva admitted other charges, including organising prostitution and money laundering, while Vailones Fidelis denied all 18 charges against her.
