Nadine Lattimore was awarded €7,000 after the Workplace Relations Commission found Dealz discriminated against her on disability grounds. The proceedings were reported on 9 July 2024.

The incident occurred at a Dealz store in Dublin’s ILAC Centre, where a security guard challenged Ms Lattimore over bringing her guide dog, Pilot, inside. She said she had no problem with Dealz staff apart from the initial confrontation. The WRC heard that the manager arrived immediately, said the dog was welcome and that the mistake should never have happened. Ms Lattimore acknowledged that apologies had been made, including one from the security guard.

The WRC did not distinguish between Dealz employees and contracted staff. It directed the retailer to provide recurring staff training on the Equal Status Act and display signs at store entrances welcoming guide and assistance dogs.
