Nadine Lattimore was awarded €2,000 after the Workplace Relations Commission found Lidl discriminated against her on disability grounds. The proceedings were reported on 20 September 2024.
The case arose after a Lidl shop assistant asked her to move away from a bakery section because of her guide dog.
The WRC found the assistant failed to take reasonable steps to ensure Ms Lattimore could access the service and obtain goods. It did not find disability discrimination in her later conversation with the deputy store manager.
The adjudication officer declined to order Lidl to display guide dog welcome signs, noting the retailer’s ongoing work to address issues arising from the case.
