An unnamed Munster father was jailed for 15 years for child sexual abuse and neglect at the Central Criminal Court on 18 January 2022.

The Irish Times reported on 18 January 2022 that Mr Justice Paul McDermott sentenced him after he was found guilty of all 31 offences, including rape, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, wilful neglect and child cruelty. The abuse involved his three older children in Munster.

The judge backdated the sentence to when the five family members entered custody in August 2021, ordered three years of post-release supervision and prohibited contact with the children.
