This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Michael Fingleton lost his High Court action against a Central Bank inquiry on 4 January 2016, clearing the way for it to proceed.

Mr Justice Seamus Noonan rejected his arguments that the inquiry was unfair, unreasonable, unlawfully delayed or outside the Central Bank’s authority.

The judge ruled that the statutory procedures protected Mr Fingleton’s right to a fair hearing and dismissed all grounds of his case.

Outstanding matters, including legal costs, were adjourned to 14 January.
