McAnaw gets 10 more months for breach of suspended sentence

By Fionn Kelly

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Mark McAnaw was ordered to serve an additional 10 months after Dublin Circuit Criminal Court reactivated part of a suspended sentence for breaching its conditions. Judge Martin Nolan directed that the term run consecutively to the 11-year sentence McAnaw is serving for harassing three female journalists.

The breach application followed McAnaw’s harassment convictions and a separate District Court conviction for breaching the Sex Offenders’ Act. The court heard that he had struggled to comply with the suspension conditions after his release from custody. Nolan reactivated 10 of the 16 suspended months, having considered the totality of the sentences.
