This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Maurice Power’s murder trial was continuing before a jury of seven women and five men. The proceedings were reported on 27 May 2014.

Maurice Power, 31, of Dranganbeg, Kilmoyler, Cahir, had pleaded not guilty to murdering Shane Rossiter. Shane Rossiter, 29, from Clonmel, died after being shot following a house party in Golden, Co Tipperary, on 17 October 2012.

On 26 May 2014, the court heard that gardaí searching for Maurice Power’s car had found a burnt-out Audi in a bog 20 minutes outside Clonmel. The report said the car was identified after an embossed chassis number was located underneath the bonnet.

Under cross-examination on 27 May 2014, Garda Lorraine Hogan confirmed that a manpower issue had led to interviewing gardaí having off-camera contact with Maurice Power.

The report also recounted a defence suggestion made the previous week. Dominic McGinn SC, defending, suggested to Detective Garda Adrian Cooke that Maurice Power had been made to tell gardaí what he told them. Detective Garda Adrian Cooke denied this, saying there had been no interaction apart from supervising cigarette breaks and interviewing.
