This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The High Court dismissed Maurice Kiely’s €12 million copyright damages claim against U2 Ltd, reported on 19 April 2024.

Kiely alleged that he wrote ‘A Man and A Woman’ and that U2 unlawfully included it on an album; U2 Ltd denied the allegations. The judge dismissed the proceedings in their entirety after Kiely did not appear when the matter was listed and had indicated in emails that he might not continue the action.

The court also ordered Kiely to pay U2 Ltd’s legal costs. The report says a separate motion concerning alleged failures to make full discovery was pending.
