Mark Crawford was found guilty of murder by a Central Criminal Court jury on 10 September 2020. The murder happened in Fitzgerald’s Bar on Sexton Street, Limerick, after a dispute over payment for cocaine.

The jury accepted that Crawford intended to cause at least serious injury when he stabbed Patrick ‘Pa’ O’Connor six times, causing fatal wounds to his heart and jugular vein. Crawford had denied murder and claimed self-defence. Ms Justice Tara Burns remanded him in custody until 2 October 2020, when the mandatory life sentence was due to be imposed.
