A MAN has been ordered to make a donation to White Oaks Rehabilitation Centre after appearing in court for two separate public order incidents.

Khailo Droniuk, aged 60, appeared in Letterkenny District Court on Monday in relation to two incidents, which both occurred in Letterkenny.

Droniuk who has an address at Drumnahough, Letterkenny, was arrested on June 8 at the Polestar Roundabout, Letterkenny.

Sergeant Jim Collins described Droniuk as being “highly intoxicated” to the point that he was unable to stand unaided as well as being unable to speak properly.

He was arrested for his own safety and charged.

Sergeant Collins said that once sober, Droniuk was deeply apologetic.

In a separate incident, on August 2, Droniuk was arrested after he was found on his knees and “highly intoxicated”, at the bus station in Letterkenny.

Again, once sober, Sergeant Collins said Droniuk was “fully apologetic” and “co-operative”.

Judge Emile Daly asked Droniuk if he accepted that he had an alcohol problem and if he was getting any support with it.

Speaking through a translator Droniuk said that he did accept that he has an alcohol problem.

Judge Daly ordered that Droniuk make a donation of €50 to White Oaks but added that it was “more important that he speaks to someone” that could help him.

Droniuk has two weeks to provide the court with a receipt as proof of his donation to White Oaks.

If he fails to do so he will be convicted and fined €150.
