A man was sentenced at the Central Criminal Court to 14 years for rape and two four-year terms for sexual assault. The sentencing proceedings were reported on 2 June 2022.

He had denied the charges. A jury convicted him of rape and sexual assault in April 2022, but found him not guilty of falsely imprisoning the same complainant.

The offences were committed against a 17-year-old girl in the midlands on 27 December 2016. The sentences were concurrent. Ms Justice Tara Burns said the man was 17 at the time of the offence and had not accepted his guilt or shown remorse.
