A man who was found naked and intoxicated while jumping in and out of traffic in Wicklow has been fined.

Augustine Arhierhi (48), with an address at The Grand Hotel, Wicklow town, appeared at a sitting of Bray District Court.

The accused pleaded guilty to two public order offences.

However, the prosecution informed the court that a further charge of criminal damage was before the court but was struck out.

The court heard that on June 14, 2025, gardaí on mobile patrol observed the defendant jumping in and out of traffic while not wearing any clothing.

Mr Arhierhi was described as intoxicated and in a distressed state at the time of the incident.

No evidence was available to the prosecution in relation to the second public order offence, and Judge David Kennedy struck that matter out.

Solicitor for the accused, Joe Maguire, told the court that his client has no previous convictions and is separated from his wife.

Mr Maguire said that the incident occurred on Mr Arhierhi’s daughter’s birthday, and that he had been unable to contact her, which caused him to become “depressed and distressed”.

“He assures me that something like this won’t happen again,” said Mr Maguire.

Judge Kennedy fined Mr Arhierhi €250, allowing him five months to pay.
